Cover Oregon comes to town

Insurance application fair will be in Medford today
 Posted: 2:00 AM November 20, 2013

In an effort to kick-start application activity for Cover Oregon, the state's health insurance exchange agency is hitting the road.

Unable to get the kinks worked out of its automated online system, Cover Oregon is visiting Medford, Eugene, Bend, Portland and Salem in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.

Cover Oregon said its application fairs will enable people to get secure insurance starting Jan. 1.

The Medford session will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 20, at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center, 2250 Biddle Road, near the North Interstate 5 exit.

Participants will need to bring the same information they would have used in signing up online.

Cover Oregon asks participants to know the Social Security number (or Alien Resident number) for everyone who has one and who is applying for coverage. Participants will also need to bring birth dates, employer and income information, alimony paid, student loan interest paid, educator expenses, IRA contributions and higher education tuition/fees.

The agency also asks for a list of self-employment deductions, present health insurance policy numbers and plan names and health coverage information available through the participant's employer.

Cover Oregon said participants can get a head start on the process by downloading and printing out the application form from and filling out as much information as possible before arriving at the fair.

Cover Oregon will have English and Spanish speakers on hand. For assistance in other languages, or for assistance necessary because of a disability, call 1-855-268-3767.
