Police chief calls explosion at DA's office domestic terrorism

 Posted: 11:10 AM November 13, 2013

Medford Police Chief Tim George called this morning's propane-tank bomb at the Jackson County District Attorney's Office an act of domestic terrorism.

He said Oregon State Police and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are helping Medford police investigate. Twenty-five people are working the case.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from the neighborhood. Investigators will closely examine evidence from the scene, which is protected from wind and rain with a temporary awning. George said details from the materials and construction method may help identify the culprit.

Right now investigators have no information on a suspect or possible motive, he said.

"We upset people. We get people angry," District Attorney Beth Heckert said, but she said no recent threats seemed out of the ordinary.
