The Bear Creek Watershed Council needs volunteers for a two-hour work party Saturday to improve riparian lands along Ashland Creek and Bear Creek in Ashland.
The 10 a.m. to noon event will focus on the area along the Bear Creek Greenway area downstream of the Ashland Water Treatment Plant, where restoration work has focused on creating shady riparian zones that help cool the creeks and improve habitat for wild salmon.
Volunteers will plant trees, pull weeds and prune trees and brush. Volunteers should bring work gloves and water. Snacks will be provided.
Volunteers should park near the Ashland Dog Park and walk down the greenway to the project area.
