Organizers of the fall 2013 Plastic Round-Up said last weekend's event at The Expo brought in 69,200 pounds of plastic materials to be recycled, a new record.
The materials filled six semi trucks, event organizers reported. About 1,100 businesses and individual households participated. Close to 1,000 vehicles dropped off plastic materials, including tarps, greenhouse film, baling twine, buckets, dry-cleaning and grocery bags, bottle caps and drink lids.
The Round-Up was put on by Jackson County Master Recyclers, Jackson County SMART Works and the Jackson County Recycling Partnership. It was first held in 2008.
