Flames gutted a 1910 Victorian home at 155 Fifth St. in Ashland this evening.

The cause of the fire, which was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m., is under investigation, Ashland Fire and Rescue officials said.

The two-alarm blaze closed Fifth Street while crews knocked down the flames, then settled in to clean up the aftermath.

The vacant home had recently been purchased by a new owner, who planned to renovate it.
