Trailer park death regarded as 'suspicious'

 Posted: 2:00 AM October 12, 2013

ASHLAND — Investigators are looking into the “suspicious” death of a person found inside a home at the Bear Creek Mobile Home Park in Ashland.

Jackson County sheriff's deputies were performing a welfare check at the residence at 4:30 p.m. Thursday when they found a body inside the home, sheriff's officials said in a news release.

The residence sits just off Corral Lane, between Interstate 5 and South Pacific Highway.

Detectives from the Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) are investigating the case. Officials have labeled the death suspicious, but have not determined how the person died.

Investigators plan to release more information as it becomes available. However, this is predicted on locating and notifying the victim's family, according to Jackson County sheriff's Detective Julie Denney.

“We are not ready to release the subject's identity at this time,” Denney said.

Officials said they know the person's identity. Denney did not comment on whether the person was a long-time Rogue Valley resident or a visitor to the area.

Law enforcement spent Friday afternoon searching the area surrounding the trailer park.
