CENTRAL POINT — Destiny Fahndrich served five aces in the final set, including the deciding one, as Crater claimed the nonconference win over Ashland, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 25-27, 15-5.
Fahndrich, a sophomore outside, had 16 kills and seven aces overall for the Comets (4-10). Junior outside Kelsey Strouse had 19 kills and 15 digs, and junior middle Paige Berriochoa racked up nine aces, eight kills and two blocks.

LA GRANDE — Julie Zamzow has always been one to pick her spots while operating around the net for the Southern Oregon University soccer team.
She picked two big ones Thursday afternoon to lift the Raiders to a 3-1 win at Eastern Oregon in a Cascade Conference matchup, extending their unbeaten streak to six matches.
Zamzow, a junior forward, tallied her first two goals of the season for the Raiders (6-3-2 overall, 2-0-1 CCC) on as many shots. They sandwiched freshman Presley Lambert's go-ahead score that was put off the crossbar and in during the 53rd minute.
Southern Oregon is 6-0-1 against Eastern since 2007.
The Mountaineers (5-2-1, 1-2-0) took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when Danielle Robinson knocked in Sydney Nelson's corner kick in front of the goal.
Zamzow converted the equalizer 14 minutes later and tacked on her second goal from 25 yards out to pad the lead in the 88th minute. SOU put all six of its shots on goal, and keeper Kylie Moltzen (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) denied five Eastern Oregon shots.
After scoring five times in 2012, Zamzow became the 13th Raider to score this season. Lambert's goal was her second.
The Raiders will finish their trip with a noon match Saturday at College of Idaho, which dropped to 3-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in CCC play with a 1-0 loss Thursday against Oregon Tech.
