EUGENE — Danial White ran the ball only twice in the game and scored on both carries and the senior quarterback passed for another touchdown to spark No. 3 Ashland to a 49-0 halftime lead en route to a 56-6 Midwestern League win over winless North Eugene on Friday.
White began the rout by going 31 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game.
The Grizzlies (6-0, 4-0 MWL) also got first-quarter touchdowns runs from Shashi Penn and Mason Montgomery, and Mason Dow scored on a 26-yard pass from White.
Ashland totaled 529 yards in offense, with 367 coming on the ground. Dow led the rushing attack with 130 yards on 10 carries. White was 10 of 12 passing for 126 yards.
The Grizzly defense limited North Eugene (0-7, 0-3) to 123 yards rushing and 73 passing.
Ashland punted the ball away only one time as its offense generated 24 first downs while holding North Eugene to nine.
North Eugene quarterback Joey Butterfield completed 3 of 10 passes for 14 yards against constant pressure.
Ashland led 28-0 after the first quarter and 56-0 through three before coasting down the stretch.
At Eugene, Sabrina Scoggin scored eight goals on the day as the Ashland girls water polo team beat South Eugene, 9-6, and Sheldon, 16-2, at Amazon Pool.
The Ashland boys fell short in both of its contests. South Eugene earned a 6-4 decision and Sheldon got a 10-9 edge.
Scoggin tallied five goals and two assists against South Eugene. She also had two assists and a steal.
Maddy Longshore pitched in three goals and two steals for Ashland with Sadie Kasiah getting a score to go with a pair of assists.
In Ashland's romp over Sheldon, Scoggin and Longshore both scored three goals. Scoggin also logged three assists and two steals.
Ashland's Aubrie Georgevitch scored once and added three assists and seven steals while Kasiah went for two goals, three assists and five steals. Leilani Sukles scored three goals and Sydney Wisdom two.
Ashland goalkeeper Kaya Boehm had five blocks against South Eugene and seven more against Sheldon.
For the Ashland boys, Taos Cadarette-Stewart scored a goal and had four steals against South Eugene before putting up four goals and two steals on Sheldon.
Also for Ashland vs. Sheldon, Hoku Eggertsen recorded three goals, four assists and a steal and Tristan Gavin had one goal, four assists and three steals.
Ashland goalie Vincent Wright racked up 10 blocks against South Eugene and chipped in four blocks and four saves against Sheldon.
