The Sultans at The Wild Goose

 Posted: 2:00 AM October 03, 2013

About three years ago, Dal Carver, Jeff Addicott and Detlef Eismann (The Fabulous Savoys) decided to step out of their comfort zones, switch up the instrumentation and, together with Pat Barlow on harmonica, formed The Sultans.

"Jeff usually plays bass, but he's on drums," Carver says. "I usually play piano, but I'm on bass, and Detlef usually is on saxophone, and he's on piano."

The Sultans's repertoire includes Chicago-style R&B, blues and early rock by artists such as Ray Charles, Little Walter and others.

The band plays the second Tuesday of every other month at The Wild Goose, 2365 Ashland St., Ashland. Its next show is at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.

There is no cover charge.
