The Siskiyou Institute, a local nonprofit arts organization that has brought world-class performing artists to southern Oregon for the past 12 years, is changing its name to the Siskiyou Music Project.
The name change is intended to better reflect the organization's mission of expanding the cultural arts and educational opportunities for Southern Oregon and Northern California, officials said in a news release.
The organization will present its 2013 fall concert series of seven concerts at The Old Siskiyou Barn in Ashland, Paschal Winery in Talent and the Artistic Piano Gallery in Medford. Performances will include The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet on Sept.18, the Mark Levine Trio on Sept. 27, the Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet on Oct. 9, Nashville father and son duo Tim & Myles Thompson on Oct. 23, the David Friesen Trio on Nov. 21, Fado vocalist Ramana Vieria and her Ensemble on Dec. 6 and world music group Incendio on Dec.14.
