Row on over to Paddlefest

Howard Prairie Resort will host a day of paddle sports and other activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.

The Northwest Outdoor Store's 2013 Paddlefest at the resort 30 minutes east of Ashland will include races, a paddle poker run, kayak fishing and stand-up paddle technique clinics, kayak, paddleboard yoga and stand-up paddleboard demonstrations and more. The U.S. Coast Guard will demonstrate water safety.

The clinics are free but are limited to 10 people. Preregistration is required, and interested parties can sign up at the Northwest Outdoor Store, 980 Biddle Road, Medford. Paddle races are also free, along with the demonstrations. The poker run costs $5 per person. Normal Jackson County day parking fees of $4 apply.
