  • SALEM — Gov. John Kitzhaber has signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana dispensaries.
Kitzhaber signed 66 bills on Wednesday but vetoed parts of two of them.
Critics pushed Kitzhaber to veto the dispensaries measure saying it could lead to abuses. In a letter, Kitzhaber says the bill provides the Oregon Health Authority with power to regulate dispensaries.
Kitzhaber has signed 787 bills this year, and only one remains. The governor has not yet acted on a bill allowing some schools to keep their Native American mascots, which were banned by the state Board of Education.
Kitzhaber has threatened to veto it, and he has until next week to make a final decision.
