Ashland hotel developers buy Medford Red Lion

 Posted: 11:05 AM August 01, 2013

Ashland residents Doug and Becky Neuman announced this morning they have purchased the Red Lion Hotel in Medford.

A press release said the Neumans, known for their renovations of Ashland Springs Hotel and Lithia Springs Resort in Ashland, plan to renovate the hotel and rename it the Inn at the Commons.

They also will expand Larks, the restaurant they own at Ashland Springs, into the Medford location, the release said.

The purchase price of the hotel was not immediately available.

The Red Lion, at 200 N. Riverside Ave., across from The Commons, has more than 9,500 square feet of meeting space and can accommodate up to 1,200 people, the release said. Of the 185 guest rooms, 67 will be removed on a 3.29-acre portion of the property that the city of Medford is purchasing for a parking lot at a cost of $1.6 million.

More details will be given when they become available.
