California country and Americana trio, Calico the Band, will present three-part vocal harmonies "reminiscent of an earthier Dixie Chicks mixed with Crosby, Stills, and Nash" at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at The Playwright Public House, 258 A St., Ashland.
The trio, a "singer-songwriter supergroup," according to a news release, features Manda "Perry Rose" Mosher, Kirsten "Juniper" Proffit and Jaime "Snap Dragon" Wyatt. Mosher, Proffit and Wyatt alternate singing lead vocals and collectively play mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and acoustic and resonator guitars.
This summer, Calico, which formed less than a year ago, is putting the final touches on its debut EP and actively touring.
As part of its current 18-stop West Coast tour, the trio also will perform at 9 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Johnny B's Rockin' Diner, 120 E. Sixth St., Medford.
