After taking a few years off to care for her young, twin daughters, acoustic guitarist Bekkah McAlvage is easing her way back into the music scene.
Her new project, tentatively called Bekkah & Friends, showcases songs she wrote during her "time off" and features bassist Sage Meadows, electric guitarist Jef Fretwell and drummer Kyle Coroneos.
The band will play McAlvage's original country, folk and blues songs, as well as some obscure covers, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at The Wild Goose Cafe, 2365 Ashland St., Ashland. The show is free to attend. Call 541-488-4103.
In addition to being a frontwoman and mom, McAlvage also is pursuing her master's degree at Southern Oregon University and, somehow, still finds time to play acoustic gigs with Meadows as The Maybe Sometimes at 10 a.m. on the first Sunday of every month at the Downtowne Coffee House in Talent.
