With reductions in admission prices, expanded admission specials and newly included activities, Jackson County Fair goers can expect more for their money.
That begins at the gate, said Dave Koellermeier, director of the Expo. General adult admission has been reduced to $10 from $11 last year. Other admission prices remain at $6 for children ages 6 to 11 and seniors ages 62 to 74, but Koellermeier noted that feature days also have been expanded from half-day specials to full-day for 2013. "Our feature days — we've run them all day," Koellermeier said.
Today is Kids Day, with children's admission $3 all day. Wednesday is Senior Day with $3 admission for seniors ages 62-74, Thursday is Veterans Day, with $6 admission for all active or retired veterans, and Sunday is 2-for-1 day.

Koellermeier said the fair also made sure that the general admission ticket provided access to a wide variety of activities.
"There are number of acts that are free with that," he said.
Daily events will include "The Great Bear Show," an animal rescue organization that rescues orphaned bear cubs; an educational program from "Walk on the Wild Side," an organization that rescues orphaned and illegally captured exotic cats; and performances by hypnotist Richard Barker.
"All of these are free with admission," Koellermeier said.
Different daily features will be featured at the 2013 fair, also included with price of admission.
Tuesday and Wednesday will include dog show performances from the Olate brothers, who have been featured on "America's Got Talent"; Thursday will offer a freestyle motocross performance; Friday will offer professional bull riding; Saturday the fair will showcase monster trucks, and on Sunday the Jackson County Stockman's Association Ranch Rodeo hits the fairground's arena.
"It's a good value," Koellermeier said. He said some events familiar to the Expo but new to the Jackson County Fair, such as the rodeo and motocross events, will cost less to enter when included in fair admission than similar exclusive events at other times of the year at the Expo.
In another cost break from years past, tickets for the headlining concerts, Weird Al Yankovic on Tuesday and Third Day on Wednesday, will include fair admission.
A variety of local musicians will also perform on The Showcase Stage, included with fair admission.
"Once they're in, there's a lot, lot, lot to do," he said.
