With heavier progressions, a lot of percussion and elements of punk rock, Stereotyped turns bluegrass black.
The trio is Matt Hendrix on acoustic guitar and banjo, Larry Grose on upright bass and Julie Jankowski, who stomps, plays kazoo through a trumpet and sings through a bullhorn.
The band typically plays at 9 p.m. the first Friday of each month at Caldera Tap House, 31 Water St., Ashland. This Friday's set will include mostly originals, as well as a few songs by other artists, including "Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show, "Graveyard" by The Devil Makes Three, "The House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals, and "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson.
The cover is $3 to $5. Look for Stereotyped Blackgrass Band on Facebook for more information.
