Harold Travis Gentry

Harold "Red" Travis Gentry was born to parents, Lyman Cloyd and Bessie Ellen Gentry. He was the youngest child of eighth siblings, three brothers and four sisters.


He graduated from Millard High School, Fillmore, Utah in 1955. Two years class officer, Utah Boys State, All-State Football, and All Conference Basketball. He attended Southern Utah University on a football scholarship; and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He also studied Engineering at ICS; and was president of Adroit Metal Fabrication in Huntington Park, Calif. for 16 years.

It was there that he met his wife, Lorene, on a blind date. They were married March 10, 1962 in Englewood, Calif. They had five children, one set of twin boys, who died shortly after birth, one son, Kurt, and two daughters, Lea and Jill. Red also leaves his four grandsons Cameron, Alex, Austyn, and Travis. He moved to Ashland, Ore. July 1976, where he served on the Board of Trustees Ashland YMCA; was on the Board, and served as chairman of the Ashland Adolescence Center; and was a member of the Ashland Elks, serving on Board of Trustees and as chair officer for 35 years as of 2011. He then moved to Medford, Ore. in 1991, where he opened up Medford Truss Co., and served as president from 1993 to the present.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford.
