Ashland Lions to host Fourth of July barbecue

Tradition continues in Lithia Park
 Posted: 2:00 AM June 27, 2013

The Ashland Lions Club will again host the annual Fourth of July Chicken Barbecue in Lithia Park.

The Lions have been barbecuing chicken on Independence Day since the 1950s and feed hundreds of hungry revelers and paradegoers each year.

The barbecue is one of the major fundraising events for the Lions with all of the proceeds spent on local and national Lions projects including the Sight & Hearing Program, Dogs for the Deaf, Ashland High scholarships, Ashland parks improvements, ScienceWorks, SOU Children's Theater and more.

The barbecue includes a quarter chicken, baked beans, salad, roll, and lemonade or iced tea.

Follow the signs to the shade of Lithia Park near the children's playground where the Lions serve from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $10.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at Paddington Station, The Music Coop or from any Ashland Lion.
