Kiki Ebsen

 Posted: 9:10 AM June 20, 2013

Singer, songwriter and pianist Kiki Ebsen — the "sleeping giant in contemporary music," according to U.K. jazz authority Steve Quirk — has backed several distinguished artists, including Christopher Cross, Wilson Phillips, Boz Scaggs and Tracy Chapman, and written music for dozens of others.

After earning her bachelor's degree in classical voice from the California Institute of the Arts, Ebsen, daughter of Buddy Ebsen (aka Jed Clampett of "The Beverly Hillbillies"), toured with Chicago as a keyboardist and technician. She later joined Al Jarreau's band for a world tour and performances on "The Tonight Show" and "The Arsenio Hall Show."

Ebsen continues to write, record and perform music, as well as spend time with rescued horses on The Healing Equine Ranch in Calabasas, Calif.

She will play at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at The Playwright Public House, 258 A St., Ashland. Admission is free. Call 541-488-9128 or see for more information.
