Southern Oregon will play its opening football game of 2013 in Grants Pass.
The second Kickoff Classic — the Raiders began the season in Medford last year — will be at Mel Ingram Field and will pit SOU against Frontier Conference opponent Rocky Mountain at 1 p.m. on Aug. 31.
The Raiders will look for a bit of revenge, having suffered one of only two regular-season losses of 2012 to the Bulldogs. SOU rebounded by winning eight of its next nine games to advance to the NAIA Football Championship Series quarterfinals.
The game will be a homecoming for third-year Raiders head coach Craig Howard. He graduated from Grants Pass High and played football for coach Ingram.
"I'm excited about returning to my hometown to play in the stadium named after my high school coach," said Howard. "A lot of great football memories in my life took place on that field."
Ticket prices will be $12 for adults and $6 for seniors and children up to 12.
Tickets will be available in advance through the Grants Pass Rotary Club and the SOU athletics office at 541-552-6772. Ten percent of the ticket sales will go to the Grants Pass Rotary Club's Youth Scholarship Program.
