Monday, June 10

GMO-Free Jackson County: General meeting is 9 a.m. Mondays at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Call 541-708-3151.

Computer Instructions for Seniors: Ashland Parks and Recreation offers computer instruction for adults ages 60 and older by appointment from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Ashland Senior Center, 1699 Homes Ave. The cost is free, but an appointment is necessary. Line Dancing for Seniors: Line dancing for seniors 60 and older is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at the Ashland Senior Center, 1699 Homes Ave. Advanced line dancing is from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the center. Admission is $1. Call 541-488-5342.

Preschool Storytime: The library will hold a storytime for preschool children and their families from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Call 541-774-6995.

Juggling Club: The Talent Juggling Club meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays in the gymnasium at Talent Elementary School, 307 W. Wagner Creek Road. Jugglers of all experience levels are welcome. Call 541-708-0704.

Monday Night Bingo: Games of bingo are played from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays at Louie's Restaurant and Bar, 41 N. Main St. All ages and families are encouraged to play. The event is free to play, and prizes are given. Call 541-482-9701.

Tuesday, June 11

Scienceworks Hands-on Museum: Year-round exhibits at the museum, 1500 E. Main St., Ashland, explore energy, anatomy, chemistry, perception, motion, engineering and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. Admission is $7.50, $5 for children ages 2 to 12 and adults older than 65. See or call 541-482-6767 for a schedule of activities.

Growers Market: Fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables, live plants, baked goods, crafts and gourmet foods are available at the Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters Market from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 26 at the Ashland Armory, 1420 E. Main St. Visit

TED Talks at the Library: There will be a discussion of a selection of TED Talks online videos on the topic of "happiness" from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Call 541-774-6996.

AshMug Meeting: The Ashland Macintosh Users' Group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in the Ashland Community Hospital conference room, 280 Maple St. The meeting is free. The June 11 meeting will include a Q&A session and a discussion from AshMUG members on favorite Mac and iOS apps. Visit

Tai Chi Class: Easy tai chi classes are held from 10:30 to noon Tuesdays at First Presbyterian Church of Ashland, at the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Walker Avenue. Cost is a suggested donation of $3. Call 541-552-0698.

Guided Nature Walks: Volunteer naturalists from the Ashland Parks and Recreation Department will lead easy 90-minute nature walks through Lithia Park at 10 a.m. Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays from May 1 through Sept. 29. All ages and pre-registration is not required. Call 541-488-5340.

SPELLING BEE: A spelling contest is held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Louie's Restaurant and Bar, 41 N. Main St. Players can compete on their own or in teams. Free to play. Prizes for first place. Children and families are encouraged to participate. Call 541-482-9701.

Trivia Night: Play trivia from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays at The Playwright Public House, 258 A St., Ashland. Cost is $5 per team, and the winner takes all. Senior Luncheon: Senior Nutrition Services of Jackson and Josephine County put on a healthy, well-balanced luncheon for seniors from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the Talent Community Center, 206 E. Main St., Talent. Cost is $2.75 for those 60 and older, and $6.75 for everyone else. Call 541-664-6674.

Hearts and spades: Card games for adults 50 and older are held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at the Ashland Senior Center, 1699 Homes Ave. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Call 541-488-5342.

Friday, June 14

PRESCHOOL PUPPET THEATER: Children ages 3 to 5 can gather round and see what Brenda Bear, Maven Raven, Trickster Coyote and a chorus of other animal friends are up to at 10:30 a.m. the second Friday of every month at the North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. A brief ecology lesson will be followed by the puppet show, playtime, snacks and a kids craft activity. Cost is $6 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Caterwauling Caravan: The Caterwauling Caravan will perform with the Western Skies Orchestra at 7 p.m. Monday, June 17, at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way. The event will celebrate the life of folk musician Utah Phillips, and will include the music of Utah Phillips, Rosalie Sorrels and Woody Guthrie. Admission is a suggested donation of $10. PACO Concert: The Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra will hold a concert at 8 p.m. Monday, June 17, at the Elizabethan Stage at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 15 S. Pioneer St. The orchestra will perform with 12 members of The Siskiyou Violins. Tickets are $14. Call 541-324-7974.

ASHLAND SUFI HEART CIRCLE: Dances of Universal Peace, sacred phrases from world religions and practices of Hazrat Inayat Khan and Murshid Samuel L. Lewis are presented from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of every month at Hidden Springs Wellness Center, 1651 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Admission is a donation of $10. Children's Drum program: Laura Rich will discuss musical traditions from other cultures using drums from West Africa from 1 to 3 p.m Tuesday, June 25, at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. An event for children ages 3 to 5 will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m., and an event for children ages 6 to 12 will be 2 to 3 p.m. Call 541-774-6423.

Saturday, June 29

Writers Workshop: Children's book editor Melissa Manlove will lead a workshop on "Making Your First Pages Shine" from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at 410 Siskiyou Blvd. The workshop is held by the Rogue Valley connection of the Oregon chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
