Oregon State University Extension Service instructor Rhianna Simes will teach a class on composting from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 8, at the Ashland Recycling Center on Water Street.

The class is free and sponsored by the City of Ashland's Conservation Commission and Recology Ashland Sanitary Service.

Attendees can learn about composting and how it can help enrich soil for gardening. Simes will teach about setting up a compost system in an urban setting and will also talk about recommendations to keep animals out of the piles.
