Olander earns CCC honor

 Posted: 2:00 AM April 23, 2013

A pair of event titles and NAIA qualifying marks at Saturday's Oregon Relays earned Southern Oregon junior Jonz Olander the honor of being the Cascade Collegiate Conference men's track athlete of the week.

Olander won the 400 meters on Saturday, and his time of 47.98 hit the NAIA 'A' standard national qualifying mark. He followed that up by running the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay for the Raiders, as the team won the event with an NAIA provisional qualifying time of 3:16.98.

The honor marks a first for Olander, who is from Grants Pass. Olander set the CCC championship meet record last season in the 400 and also won the 200 to earn athlete of the meet honors.

Southern Oregon returns to action this week, traveling to three different meets on Thursday and Friday. The Raiders will participate in Thursday's Titan Twilight at Lane Community College, Friday's Oregon State High Performance Meet and the CCC Multi-Event Championships spanning both days in Klamath Falls.
