  • Ashland High School Theatre students received a number of honors at the 2013 State Acting Competition and Oregon State Thespian Festival on April 5, including:
    Honor Troupe — Maya Zundel, Lisa-Marie Werfel and Griffin Hadden presented a 10-minute presentation by way of powerpoint, posters, and portfolio.
    Showcase Select Production of "And Then They Came For Me" — The AHS group of 30 students worked four hours to set up set, lights, sound, props, video and costumes. The play was performed to an audience of more than 1,000 thespians and received a standing ovation.
    Group Acting — "August: Osage County" by Tracy Letts. Maya Zundel, Rachel Kaiser and Aubyn Heglie.
    Duo Dramatic Experienced — "Proof" by David Auburn. Aubyn Heglie and Jeremiah Lieberman.
    Solo Acting Experienced — Elena Toppo (Lady Ann from Richard III and modern comic monologue)
    First Place, Playwriting — Isabel Enns "excellent play submission" entitled "Making Things Important"
    Superior One Act Play — "Making Things Important" written by Isabel Enns and performed by Noah Werthaiser, Aubyn Heglie, Braeden Bell and Jackson Richmond.
    Second Place, Sound Design — Connor Fergusen for his work on sound effects for "And Then They Came for Me."
    Third Place, Short Film — Shay Astor and Eli Turner for their film "Slenderman." Actors in the production were Shay Astor, Eli Turner, Tallon Shults and Chris Williams.
    Actors and techies who Qualified for International Thespian Competition this summer in Nebraska:
    Technical — Connor Fergusen, Sound Design
    One Act Production — "Making Things Important" written by Isabel Enns and performed by Noah Werthaiser, Aubyn Heglie, Braeden Bell and Jackson Richmond.
    Acting — Group Acting Maya Zundel, Rachel Kaiser, Aubyn Heglie.
    Duo Comic Experienced — Lindsey Crocker and Mason McClellan.
    Duo Dramatic Experienced — Aubyn Heglie and Jeremiah Lieberman.
    Solo Acting Experienced (classic and modern monologues) — Noah Yaconelli and Elena Toppo.
    Solo Musical — Amelia Mejia, "Pulled" from The Addams Family; Noah Werthaiser "Snoopy" from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
    Large Group Musical — "Toledo Surprise" from the "Drowsy Chaperone" with Griffin Hadden, Joseph Yaconelli, Jackson Richmond, Alyssa Monning, Mason McClellan, Michaela Poling, Madison Gilpin, Lisa-Marie Werfel, Tallon Shults, Ceili Widmann, Andrea Koell and Elena Toppo.
    Small Group Musical — "She's in Love" from "The Little Mermaid" with Rosemarie Caruso, Jackson Richmond, Alyssa Monning, Michaela Poling, Isabel Enns, Meg Fredericks and Madison Gilpin.
