Ronald A. Bortman, 72, of Hornbrook, Calif., passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at his home. A private graveside service will be held at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville, Ore. with Rabbi Joshua Boettinger officiating.

Mr. Bortman was born December 5, 1940 in Detroit, Mich. to Joe and Rebecca (Hurwitz) Bortman. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1967. He worked as a psychiatrist for 45 years, 25 of which were in private practice and the remaining 20 with various state agencies.
He was a past member of Beth El Synagogue in Berkeley, Calif. and Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland, Ore. He belonged to the Union of American Physicians and Dentists.
His interests included anything involving science, building rockets, metal work, and reading.
Survivors include his wife Holly (Weymouth) Bortman; sons, Joshua and Isaac; and sister and brother-in-law, Roz and Allan Granitz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rebecca Bortman.
