He's toured with The Avett Brothers and played professionally around the globe, but this winter, Justin Gordon — a new father — played for tips, beer and the sheer love of music at small venues around Ashland.
Gordon's lately kept his gigs to a minimum to see that he has plenty of time for family. This week, he'll play acoustic guitar from 5:30 to 8 p.m. during the First Friday art walk, April 5, at Three Penny Mercantile, 101 E. Main St., Ashland, and at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Green Springs Inn, 11470 Highway 66, Ashland, just a mile or two down the road from the woodland cabin he shares with his wife and 6-month-old son.
For these solo shows, Gordon plays songs by friends and his originals, all in the Americana vein. Listen for some of his new ones, including "Home Fires" and "Three Day Weekend."
This summer, Gordon and his band, Wrecking Ball, will regroup for a series of shows, but more on that to come.
