  • Police have arrested three boys in connection with three separate business break-ins over the past eight months.
Deputy Chief Corey Falls said investigators reviewed video surveillance footage and recognized two of the juveniles involved and were able to then find the third after interviewing the two suspects.
Officers arrested three boys, one 12-year-old and two age 13, Monday afternoon on charges relating to two separate burglaries at Albertsons and one at Rite Aid dating back to last year. One occurred on Aug. 10 at Albertsons and one on Oct. 29 at Rite Aid.
Charges against the juveniles included second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, third-degree theft, conspiracy and criminal mischief.
Burglars smashed windows at the Albertsons supermarket at 2301 Ashland St. early Friday morning but ran away when the alarm went off, police said.
The intruders used a duffel bag filled with some kind of heavy item that they swung at the window to break it, Falls said.
As they entered the building the alarm went off and they fled, apparently without taking anything, he said. The call came in at 3:54 a.m., and officers were on the scene in minutes, Falls said.
The store opened for business as usual after Friday's break-in, Falls said.
The juvenile detention center is handling the three juveniles, all of whom are students at Ashland Middle School.
