Check out science writer's new book

 Posted: 12:10 PM March 27, 2013

Ants teach, rats love to be tickled, chimpanzees grieve, and that's just some of the observations included in a new book on animal behavior by Ashland author Virginia Morell.

Morell will discuss her book, "Animal Wise: The Thoughts and Emotions of Our Fellow Creatures," at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Ashland library's Gresham Room, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.

The book complies research on animal cognition and emotion and takes a look at the emotional behavior and thought processes of animals ranging from insects to mammals.

Morell's presentation Thursday is hosted by the Northwest Nature Shop. It is free and open to all.
