Oregon drivers cannot use studded tires on their vehicles after Sunday, March 31, Oregon Department of Transportation said in a reminder released this week.
Studded tires season in Oregon starts Nov. 1 and runs through March 31 each year. Some years, if weather conditions warrant, ODOT officials extend the season in the spring.
Winter conditions aren't expected on roads in coming weeks, so studded tires must come off.
Officials say the tires, used to gain extra traction in icy areas, cause damage to state roads. They recommend drivers consider other types of snow tires or chains when necessary.
