Right to automatic weapons discussed

A retired lawyer and professor will discuss the Second Amendment and assault weapons at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Oregon Education Association building, 2495 S. Pacific Highway, Medford.

Speaker Wolf Hoppe was a civil trial lawyer and partner in a large Michigan law firm before he joined the U.S. Foreign Service. He also was an adjunct professor at the Wayne University Law School in Detroit and a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Since retiring to Ashland in 1999, he has taught courses on the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. Supreme Court and related topics at Southern Oregon University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

At this free lecture he will discuss the question of privately held assault weapons. The presentation is sponsored by the Jackson County Democratic Party.
