  • If you like music by Elliott Smith and Paul Simon, you also might like Matt Dorrien's original folk-rock and Americana.
The San Francisco singer and songwriter, known as Snowblind Traveler, will play at 9 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Caldera Tap House, 31 Water St., Ashland. The cover charge is $5.
"For those who have ever slept under a blanket of Big Sur stars and drank whiskey until you forgot your own name, this is for you," Dorrien says in an email.
Last year, Dorrien released his 10-track debut, "Always Winter," with his cousin Chris Keyes. The album is available for download at www.mattdorrien.bandcamp.com. His second album, "Lost on the North Hills," recorded with Jason Quever of Papercuts, comes out this week; copies will be available at Caldera.
Dorrien says his music is "inspired by the rolling expanse of middle America, the fog- and lichen-draped cathedral of redwoods in the Northwest, the lulling whisper of a New England blizzard, the sorely disappointed, the dearly loved, the true and honest, those who are lost and forgotten, the living, dead and eternal."
