Opera opens Friday

Brava! Opera Theater will present Gian Carlo Menotti's "The Old Maid and the Thief" and "The Telephone," two comical one-act operas performed in English, Friday through Sunday, March 1-3, at Camelot Theatre in Talent.

"The Old Maid and the Thief" is a tale of gossip, small-town stereotypes, and the lengths to which people will go for love. In "The Telephone," two lovers face a different challenge caused by a young woman's obsession with her phone.

Both are directed by Willene Gunn, artistic director of Brava!, with musical direction and piano by Laurie Anne Hunter.

Performers include soprano Emma McNairy, baritone Jose Rubio, soprano Ellie Holt-Murray and mezzo soprano Beth Madsen Bradford.

Performances will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Camelot, 101 Talent Ave., Talent.
