Fred Meyer has issued a recall on five breads sold in their stores after discovering the products may contain pieces of plastic, according to a news release.
The discovery was made at the company's bakery in Clackamas, which instituted a recall at Fred Meyer stores in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
"We are unsure at this point how this could occur but are investigating," the release said.
Kroger Value Wheat Bread, QFC Tender Twist Wheat Bread, Fred Meyer Tender Twist Honey Cracked Wheat bread, Fred Meyer Tender Twist Whole Wheat Bread and Fred Meyer Tender Twist White Bread loaves with a "Sell by March 8" notification have been pulled from the shelves. The products were delivered to stores Friday, Feb. 22, Sunday, Feb. 24, and Monday, Feb. 25.
Fred Meyer Rewards card holders who purchased the product will receive a phone message about the recall. Anyone who has purchased these products can bring them back to the store for a refund or exchange.
