Kasilof, Alaska resident Betsy Margaret Hester, 60, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at home surrounded by friends and family.
A celebration of Betsy's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at The Decanter Inn, approximately mile 107 of the Sterling Hwy. in Kasilof.
Betsy was born December 24, 1952, in Eugene, Ore. She was raised and attended school in Ashland, Ore. and was a 1970 graduate with honors from Ashland High School. She had lettered in track in high school.
She moved to Kasilof, Alaska in 1995, and was a member of the Kasilof Eagles Club.
Her family wrote that through the course of her life, she lived in Ashland and Corvallis, Oregon, Prosser, Washington and Kasilof, Alaska. She touched the hearts of people everywhere she went and has left behind many friends as well as family. Betsy was passionate about life with a deep and abiding love for nature. She also loved a good book, a good cup of coffee and the Sunday crossword puzzle. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Pauline Hester. She is survived by her partner, Greg Caille; daughters and sons-in-law, Vera and Darrel Renner, and Valerie and Joel Milette, all of Kasilof, and Stephanie Kwiatkowski, of Ashland, Ore.; son, Benjamin Kwiatkowski, of Phoenix, Ore.; sister, Nancy Kitchen, of Kasilof; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick and Carlene Hester, of Ashland, Ore., and Gordon Hester and Sally Murphy, of Fremont, Calif.; and several grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins, all of whom she loved very much.
