FFA collecting for food banks

The Phoenix FFA chapter will participate in the Oregon Les Schwab Tire Center FFA 50,000 Pound Food Challenge.

The challenge was issued by Oregon Les Schwab stores as an initiative to fight hunger. Les Schwab Tire Centers across the state have partnered with the more than 100 local FFA chapters to raise food for local food banks.

The challenge runs the entire month of February. Participating chapters will connecting with local Les Schwab stores to develop plans for raising the food.

The challenge is for each of Oregon's 113 FFA chapters to raise 500 pounds of food. Cash donations also are welcome and each 50 cents raised will be credited as a pound of food.

All chapters that meet the 500 pound goal will be recognized on stage at the FFA annual state convention. Chapters that raise the most food based on the OSAA ranking of their school size will receive a chapter scholarship.

Donations can be brought to Phoenix High School, or to the south Medford or Ashland Les Schwab stores.
