It'll also hear recommendation to appoint parks commissioner

The Ashland City Council will hold a public hearing about the proposed adoption of a new Transportation System Plan during a meeting that begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Highlights of the plan include:
- Improved sidewalk and bicycling networks
- Expanded bus service
- Street and intersection safety improvements
- Plans to perform a downtown parking, circulation and truck delivery study
- A recommendation to charge a fee on development to help pay for projects that would increase people's ability to get around by diverse means
Also Tuesday night, the council will decide whether to follow an Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission recommendation to appoint former Parks Commissioner Mike Gardiner to a vacant seat on the commission.
Rich Rosenthal had occupied that seat, but he was elected to the council and took office in January, vacating his Parks Commission post.
Gardiner would serve until Dec. 31, 2014.
