James Patrick "Pat Mimnaugh Jr.

James Patrick Pat Mimnaugh Jr., 65, passed away on Veterans Day, November 11, 2012, from Amyloidosis, a military service-connected illness.

Pat was a graduate of Reedsport High School class of 1965 (Go Braves!) and enlisted in the USMC, serving in Vietnam. Upon his return he attended Southwestern Oregon Community College later earning a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Southern Oregon College, in Ashland, Oregon.

Pat was a devoted father and very involved with youth sports in Ashland, coaching and supporting his sons, Scott and Lance, as well as their friends. He was a millworker during his college years, later working at the Belloni Boys Ranch before initiating a 30-year career as a parole and probation officer in Jackson, Lane, and Columbia Counties. His greatest memories were of times spent with family and friends, and of days spent with his toes in the sand of warm sunny beaches.

Pat is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cynthia Swearingen Mimnaugh; his sons, Scott and Lance; granddaughters, Jo, Tyler, and Augustina; nieces, Angela, Ashley and Nicole (Aaron); nephew, Tony; former daughters-in-law, Brandi and Monica; ex-wife, Brenda and her family; and his beloved boy dogs, Harley and News.

Heartfelt gratitude goes out to his friends, Mike, Wally, Jim, Danny and Larry, and the doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals at Compass Oncology, Northwest Cardiovascular, and Legacy Hospice, especially Maria Garcia, for her laughter and compassionate care.

At Pat's request, no service will be held. A celebration to honor his family and friends will be held at his home July 6, 2013. Those wishing to attend may RSVP at mimnaughpat@yahoo.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland or Reedsport High School's Athletic programs, or to the Amyloidosis Support Groups, 232 Orchard Drive, Wood Dale, IL 60191 or online at www.amyloidosissupport.com.
