Grizz boys fall at EP

EAGLE POINT — Junior guard Cesar Chavez scored 30 points to lift Eagle Point past Ashland, 82-62, in Class 5A Southern Oregon Hybrid action Tuesday at Eagle Point High School.

Jorge Quintero turned in 13 points, Austin Holmes 12 and Kramer Edwards 11 for the Eagles (12-8, 1-0 SOH), who trailed 19-13 after the first quarter before going on a 32-9 run in the second.

Connor Kaegi had 16 points, Quaid Walters 13 and RJ Atteberry and Steen Fredrickson 10 apiece for the Grizzlies (1-16, 0-1), who had three starters each pick up three fouls in the first quarter.

Eagle Point head coach Bryan Wood was ejected from the game after receiving his second technical with 3:07 left in the first period. He must sit out when the Eagles host South Medford next Tuesday.

The contest begins the first of three league meetings between Ashland and Eagle Point.
