Tater Famine at The Wild Goose

 Posted: 8:50 AM January 24, 2013

"Our string instrumentation makes us folky, but our presentation is a little more rockin,' " says Tater Famine mandolinist Matteo Brunozzi.

Tater Famine, based in Santa Cruz, Calif., is Brunozzi, guitarist and lead vocalist John Dodds and Lauren Burman, who recently replaced Mat Warren as the band's upright bassist.

The energized, Americana trio performs at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at The Wild Goose Cafe & Bar, 2365 Ashland St., Ashland.

A four-month trip to Europe in 2007 provided the band with enough material for its 2008 debut, " ... An Untimely Fashion." Since then, the band has released "Now!" (2012), documenting more of its travels, stories and social commentaries.

"The second album shows the progression of the band after a few years of touring," Brunozzi says.

A third album is in the works.

There is no cover to the band's show at The Wild Goose. Call 541-488-4103.
