William (Bill) Warren Willis Jr. passed away January 10, 2013, at Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Ore.
Bill was born February 18, 1929, in Williams, Ariz. He had a passion for bull riding and traveled the country competing in rodeos. Bill came to the Ashland area in 1950 to ride in a small rodeo at the old fairgrounds near Valley View Road. During his visit to Ashland he met his wife Millie. Bill joined the military in 1950, and soon after boot camp the two were married January 22, 1951 in San Diego, Calif. Bill was in the Navy from 1950-1954 where he served two tours during the Korean War.
Upon his discharge from the military, Bill attended OIT in Klamath Falls, Ore. where he studied appliance repair. Bill worked for Don's TV and Appliance in Ashland, Ore. for 18 years before opening the doors of his own business, Courtesy Appliance with his son, Warren Willis.
Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Those who had the privilege to know him were touched by his honest, caring, and gentle character. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all.
Bill is survived by his wife, Millie Willis; two sons, Warren Willis (Nellie), of Ashland, Ore. and Doug Willis (Sherry), of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Sue Nikodym (Jerry), of Medford, Ore.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bill will be laid to rest at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
