Rowean J. Holmes passed away peacefully on Christmas morning in her home in Medford, Ore., surrounded by loved ones. She passed with all of the grace, dignity, elegance and good humor she showed in life.
Rowean was born in Lovell, Wyo., June 12, 1931. The daughter of Elizabeth and Fredrick Bush, she was the youngest daughter of nine children. Rowean graduated Valparaiso University in 1953 with a degree in home economics. There she met and married Alan B. Holmes, Medford attorney who passed away in 1990. She was a home economics teacher at Prospect Elementary School and McLaughlin Elementary. She was a talented and creative homemaker and a loving mom to her three daughters.
Rowean is remembered for her love of travel. She and her companion, Ron James, of Jacksonville, Ore., visited many cities around the world. Rowean loved the daily crossword, Scrabble, and bird watching out the window of her east Medford home. Her creativity, humor, intelligence, and style will be greatly missed.
Rowean is survived by daughters, Laura Salas, of Central Point, Ore., Amy Holmes Hehn, of Portland, Ore., and Rebecca Warren, of Ashland, Ore.; and grandchildren, Miguel Salas, Cleo Hehn, Iris Hehn, Sebastian Warren, Oliver Warren and Malcolm Warren.
A remembrance celebration for family and close friends is planned. Funeral arrangements are by Perl/Siskiyou Funeral Home.
