 Posted: 12:15 PM January 04, 2013

A local 7-year-old boy who loves superheroes, basketball and playing with friends is fighting leukemia, and a local fundraiser to help offset his treatment costs is set for next weekend.

The event for Zenith, who is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia, will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Alex's Restaurant in Ashland. Local bands including Synrgy, Brother and Frankie Hernandez will play. There also will be a raffle with prizes and gift certificates from local businesses.

Tickets can be purchased for $5 to $10, on a sliding scale, at the door. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the door or at Avant Garb, 397 E. Main St., Ashland, for $3, or $5 for two raffle tickets.

All proceeds from the concert and raffle will go to Zenith's family.
