Learn computer basics

Free beginning computer help sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays beginning Jan. 10, in the Guanajuato Room of the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Call 541-774-6996 to reserve a spot. Topics will be:

Jan. 10: How to talk to your computer.

Jan. 17: Windows concepts — The standard elements of Windows are introduced, including the desktop, start menu, task bar, and quick start menu.

Jan. 24: Web basics — Learn what the Internet is, how to navigate around it and how to use a search engine.

Jan. 31: Word processing — Learn the basics of word processing to help you create documents.

Feb. 7: Email I —This session covers reading and replying to a message, sending a new message and managing your inbox.

Feb. 14: Email II — Practice some of the most common text-editing techniques needed to write email messages and view attachments.
