Cuisine and scene: Cupcake-craving customers can find more savory selections in the new year on this Talent bakery's breakfast and lunch menus. The Cupcake Daily opened in 2011 as a veritable Cold Stone Creamery of cupcakes that allowed patrons to customize tiny cakes with fillings, frosting flavors and toppings. The quirky cupcake creations eventually were joined by hand pies, pot pies, quiches, sandwiches, wraps, even soups and salads.
Recommended: Savory hand pies offer moist fillings inside perfectly flaky, perfectly formed crust that melts in the mouth, even if the pastry isn't completely heated through; soups are made entirely from scratch, not bases; cupcakes are painstakingly decorated and come in such fun, adult flavors as strawberry daiquiri and slightly salty margarita.
