The jolly old elf has started his journey to deliver toys to children around the globe, and, continuing a tradition started in 1955, military officials are tracking the trip.
North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as NORAD, has offered the service to children since a Sears Roebuck & Co. ad in Colorado Springs misprinted a telephone number for children to call Santa, accidentally sending the calls to the defense command.
NORAD now maintains a website at www.noradsanta.org with games, videos, facts about its mission and Santa's and, of course, the details of the magical journey on Google maps and Google Earth. Watch the count of presents delivered tick upward as Santa's visits pop up on the map.
The site also includes information about how to get updates on the phone, by email, on Twitter, Facebook and GooglePlus, or through apps for mobile phones.
