PORTLAND, Ore. — The Clackamas Town Center shopping mall is reopening three days after a gunman killed two people and wounded a third amid a holiday crowd estimated at 10,000.
Among the shoppers gathered for the 9 a.m. opening today was 84-year-old Marion Hango of Clackamas, who said she wanted to be there to support the workers at the mall.
It was closed Wednesday and Thursday as officers worked on their investigation and contractors repaired damage.
At a news conference, the general manager of the mall, Dennis Curtis, wouldn't estimate how much the closure cost in lost sales.
The Clackamas County sheriff's office says security precautions will be intensified for the reopening.
The shooter, Jacob Tyler Roberts, killed himself after the attack Tuesday afternoon. Two others were killed and a girl is recovering from serious injuries.
