George Allen Harshman, 80, Ashland, surrounded by his loving family, passed peacefully Monday, December 10, 2012 at his home.
George was born May 21, 1932 in Boise, Idaho, to Clara and Oral Harshman. The family moved to Crabtree, Ore. where he grew up, graduating from high school in Albany, Ore.
It was in Crabtree where George met and married his wife and best friend of 60 years, Patsy Scott. Together they raised two sons, GR and Bruce. GR and his wife, Bobbi, live in Central Point and Bruce along with his wife Betsy reside in Talent.
George is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons, GR and Bruce; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents; and his brother, Roger Harshman.
George served in the U.S. Army, 101st paratroopers during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, George and his family owned and operated several road construction companies, Continental Construction, Easy Valley Construction, Ever Ready Construction, and Quality Rock Products. George retired in 2005.
The memorial service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Christian Church of Ashland at the corner of 2nd and B. St. in Ashland, Oregon.
George will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
