Every first Friday of the month, a sleepy downtown Ashland turns into a rollicking hotspot for music and art lovers.
The First Friday art walk, as it's called, is a great chance to check out unique galleries, hear up-and-coming Rogue Valley musicians and nibble on appetizers.
Everything from flights of local wine to handmade chocolate is handed out by happy Ashland gallery owners and shopkeepers.

Since every gallery will be alive with creativity this Friday, you can't go wrong by wandering into any that appeals to you from the sidewalk. However, some of the most interesting spots include:
- Adelante Gallery Tea House, 88 N. Main St., is the place to sip mint tea or enjoy a slice of dessert while you admire Asian art.
- Ashland Art Center, 375 E. Main St., is a downtown favorite. The three-story building showcases photography, quilts and an assortment of other arts.
- Blue Heron Gallery and Gifts, 90 N. Main St., has beautiful glass-blown works.
- Family Massage Education Center, 1081 E. Main St., is offering free massages.
