Ashland police say they have arrested an Ashland man indicted on 14 counts of encouraging child sex abuse.
Torin Eggers, 29, was arrested at 9:20 p.m. Thursday at a relative's home on Granite Street in Ashland, police said. Eggers allegedly possessed over 200 images and several videos depicting child pornography on a micro SD card recovered by police back in August.
A Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Eggers on seven counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse, and seven additional counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse Wednesday.
The first-degree charges stem from the download of the content. The second-degree charges stem from possessing it.
"You are actively reaching out in some manner and taking it for yourself," said Sgt. Tighe O'Meara of Ashland police. "They are two sides to the same coin."
The indictment came after a joint investigation between APD and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force was initiated on Aug. 23. A search warrant was issued for the 200 block of Laurel Street a week later.
